In the item "A tip for laser tips" in the December 2007 "Idea Exchange," plastic needle covers are used as containers for sterilizing laser tips.

In the January 2008 issue, the article "Toxicology Brief: Sodium hypochlorite bleach ingestion in two dogs" states that lactated Ringer's solution was used to treat hypernatremia and hyperchloremia. It seems that a fluid such as dextrose 5% in water may be more appropriate, as well as something without sodium to replenish bicarbonate.

As an aspiring veterinarian, I spend a great deal of time reading your informative journal.

I have enjoyed Dr. Miller's cartoons and writings over the years.

After reading your interview with Dr. William J. Kay in the September issue, I felt compelled to write about this outstanding veterinarian, administrator, author, and teacher.

No matter how healthy you look and feel, cancer may be lurking in your body.

I have enjoyed reading Veterinary Medicine's interviews with veterinary leaders. When I picked up the December 2006 issue, I was especially pleased to see the interview with Dr. Robert L. Leighton.

It was a real pleasure to read Dr. Miller's column in the April issue on admitting our mistakes.

I'm happy to see Veterinary Medicine openly explore the many facets of animal welfare in the August 2006 issue. And I'd like to thank Dr. Rollin for a thought-provoking opinion on animal welfare and the veterinary profession (Guest Commentary, "Now is the time to take a stand on animal welfare," August 2006).
